As it turns out, I already had an EIN number going back to Evanston 20 years ago. Story for another day.

We are able to use the same EIN number since it's under my name. All that is needed is to change the name of the business and the address. I mailed the forms in yesterday and it won't take long for the changes which is now online. This is how I found about already having an EIN. The business has been registered with the State of Michigan. Waiting for the resale number. We can't open a Business bank account until the name change has been made at the IRS. Though I still believe that it's best for the business to "hit the ground running" - purchase screen-printing equipment immediately once I received the settlement from the car accident.
